Lakhmir Singh is an Indian author of texts on the subjects of science, mathematics, and computer science.Having graduated as an honours student in physics from Delhi University, he went on to do a master's degree at the same university, and later on, a PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.In 1972, Lakhmir Singh started a journey that has taken him to London, where he has lived for more than 25 years. He taught at the University of Dundee for ten years, returned to India to teach physics and mathematics at the Ramjas College, Delhi, and then taught at the Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) for four years.Here he has published a series of books to popularize the subject of physics, to break away from the traditional mass-produced and expensive textbooks, and to create easier and more interesting texts for the student. Examples of these books are Physics for the student,Physics,Chemistry,Computer Science,Mathematics, and History of Science.His present works address the recent trends in science, especially physics and chemistry.He was nominated as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) in the spring of 1991. He was awarded the National Award for the Science Teacher in 1994 by the Government of India. He is also a former president of the Indian Science Teachers Association (ISTAA), and the current vice-president of the Science Teachers Council of India (STCI).The Science Teacher magazine has written a number of articles about Singh.
