There is a need to develop a strong communication function in many organisations, such as BPOs, and many such companies have developed and published a set of best practices guidelines. Organisations such as the Indian School for Business et al. ( 2004 ) have endeavoured to articulate explicit and consistent strategies and practices for effective leadership, stakeholder engagement and effective management. Vaidyanathan (2008) notes that'strategies often fail to capture local constraints and context, the strategic choices are seldom locally determined, and changes in the environment lead to change in the strategy'. Such a line of argument is similar to that presented in this paper in that the global approach and the local insights seem to have been somewhat neglected in many organisation cultures. However such a weakness does not seem to pervade the World Worship centres and local traditions have considerable influence on the development of products and services, as is evident in many industries, such as the construction and services sectors.
